Shekinah Davis is a fashion model born in a small town Georgia called Moultrie but grew up in Tallahassee, Florida. The responsibilities of being the oldest of 5 children drove her to be a first generation college student. Her parents divorced when she was around the age of 4 years old and her mom remarried to a man from Ghana, so she was raised under heavy Ghanaian influence.

Coming from a very conservative background, the focus on getting her education was heavily pushed on her. Shekinah attended FSU where she majored with a concentration on poetry and a major in communications in creative writing.

Bothered by pestering questions such as “what can you do with a degree like that & how can you make money?” She still managed to push through with a degree and graduated in 2017 with her Bachelor’s. Photography, modeling, and acting have always been a love for her and definitely considered on the track of unconventional means of living. She pursued those dreams anyway. Once she moved to Philly a month after graduating, the world really became her oyster.

Shekinah always had an inclination towards modeling, she would binge watch America’s next Top Model as most aspiring young models did growing up. Most of her dreams and ambitions were stowed away in her head and journals. She would often hear; You look like a model, you should model , do you model, you have a unique look. Hearing all of those things definitely made Shekinah wonder if she had what it take to become a model.

Being bullied certainly sparked a passion for modeling in her to prove to herself that she enjoyed every part of her being. Before she became a model she was a photographer, being a photographer helped her self shoot. She began using IG as her portfolio and posting her own ideas of innovation. People watched, and relations started. Her ambitions for 2021 are too become more recognizable and well established in the modeling industry.
